DeskArtes: Stripe and checkerboard patterns for PBF
Finnish software company DeskArtes is set to release version 16.1 of 3Data Expert. The new release includes a range of advanced capabilities, including an improved 3D nesting function and a completely new Build Engine for metal LPBF systems. With 3Data Expert 16.1, users can reliably prepare 3D models for metal, SLA and DLP systems. The new build engine includes multiple hatching strategies and vertical zones with variable slice thicknesses. Hatching patterns such as stripe, checkerboard and offset are designed to support the production of consistent, high-quality end-use parts. For example, stripe and checkerboard patterns use short laser vectors to prevent excessive heat accumulation, which can contribute to part distortion. Overall, Build Engine is intended to optimise part density, minimise thermal stress and balance productivity in metal manufacturing processes.

Layer Performance: Greater automation in multi-axis slicing
Layer Performance GmbH will unveil a comprehensively revised version of its Layer Performance Slicer, promising expanded capabilities for non-planar and multi-axis Additive Manufacturing. The updated software introduces automated slicing strategies, simplified operation and real-time visualisation to rapidly generate complex three-dimensional toolpaths without manual planning. A key advancement in this release is the increased automation of the slicing process. Predefined manufacturing strategies automatically configure key process parameters, while the software generates collision-free toolpaths based on part geometry and specific load cases. Real-time visualisations allow operators to review and verify path adjustments instantly.

Trinckle: Designing production tools without CAD expertise
Following an open beta program and feedback from hundreds of industrial users and partners, Berlin-based AM software specialist Trinckle has officially launched Additive App Suite – a selection of dedicated applications designed to simplify the adoption of 3D printing in manufacturing environments. The apps enable users to create production-ready tools and manufacturing aids without requiring CAD expertise. Each application automates a proven design workflow, allowing users to move from a manufacturing requirement to a printable design within minutes. According to Trinckle, users can discover proven applications instead of starting from scratch, independently convert production needs into designs, and employ guided workflows to scale 3D printing across additional use cases throughout the organization.

Tripo AI: Easy-to-edit 3D meshes
Chinese software and artificial intelligence company Tripo AI has unveiled a preview of Tripo P2.0, its latest foundation model for generating high-quality, production-ready 3D content. According to the company, the new model enables creators to integrate AI-generated 3D objects more seamlessly into professional production workflows. A major advancement over Tripo P1.0, Tripo P2.0 introduces quad topology. The new model allows users to generate 3D meshes that are easy to edit, rig, animate and incorporate into established production pipelines. According to the company, Tripo P2.0 produces clean quad topology with smooth edges, reducing the need for manual post-processing. Developed for games and interactive experiences, the model supports 3D artists, technical artists and game developers in creating production-ready assets. It is particularly suited to producing game characters and objects with hard surfaces, such as vehicles, props and buildings.
