With double-digit annual growth in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) market, Spain demonstrates how AM can invigorate the manufacturing industry with innovative approaches—even in challenging times. While the Spanish market remains relatively small, it is marked by strong momentum thanks to widespread acceptance of 3D technologies and well-established AM networks.
Spain’s AM sector now employs over 1,000 professionals and has seen significant increases in AM machine sales and services—24.5% and 36.2% respectively (source: ADDIMAT, 2025). According to the Wohlers Report, 1.6% of all industrial 3D printers installed worldwide are located on the Iberian Peninsula. This positive development is rooted in Spain’s strong industrial base. Unlike many other European countries, Spain’s manufacturing sector has grown steadily since 2014. AM companies benefit from a competitive industrial ecosystem with a long-standing production tradition, established supply chains, and a vibrant culture of innovation.
Spain’s geopolitical and cultural position also makes its AM market a vital bridge to South America.
Partners

With two strong partners by its side, Formnext 2025 showcases the remarkable potential of the Iberian Additive Manufacturing landscape. Thanks to their high level of commitment, both the Spanish 3D printing association ADDIMAT and the AM network IAM3DHUB play a key role in Spain’s AM industry, bringing together numerous leading companies as members and strategic partners.
A central player and powerful network is ADDIMAT – the Spanish Association for Additive Manufacturing and 3D Technologies based in San Sebastián. It is part of the AFM Cluster, an industrial federation comprising seven sector-specific associations that offer specialized services for advanced manufacturing. Founded in 2014 to promote Additive Manufacturing within Spanish industry, ADDIMAT now unites over 100 companies. These enterprises span the entire AM value chain – from machine manufacturers and service providers to technology centers, material suppliers, and end users.
IAM3DHUB (International Advanced Manufacturing 3D Hub), based in Barcelona, is an industry consortium operated and managed by Leitat. As a central point of contact, it supports companies in successfully adopting Additive Manufacturing technologies. IAM3DHUB offers a comprehensive range of services – from feasibility studies and training to strategic implementation – and plays a key role in positioning Catalonia as a hub for Industry 4.0.
Exhibitors & user industries
The strength of the Iberian AM landscape is also reflected at Formnext, where Spain has long ranked among the top exhibiting countries. With 30 exhibitors, Spain once again demonstrates a strong presence this year, including internationally renowned machine manufacturers, leading AM service providers, numerous material and software suppliers, as well as a wide range of research institutes.
Key user industries include aerospace, defense, automotive, and healthcare. The range of applications is as diverse as the sectors themselves – from 3D-printed brake covers to complex propulsion components for aerospace.
