Massivit has launched RapidWings, a turnkey platform for producing composite manufacturing tooling, and has opened its first European service center to run it. The platform is aimed at aerospace and defense manufacturers, where tooling such as molds, mandrels, masters, jigs and fixtures sits on long lead times and increasingly constrained supply chains. RapidWings builds on Massivit's Cast In Motion technology, which produces that tooling digitally and fast. Massivit reports cost reductions of up to 70 percent against conventional metal and machinable-board tooling, and says work that once took about three months can finish in days.

The new service center sits in Barcelona under Massivit's European entity and will produce and deliver tooling on demand for regional customers.

Chief executive Yossi Azarzar framed the site as the first step in a wider network of service centers and manufacturing facilities, and pointed to European aviation and security markets facing sharp supply-chain bottlenecks. For an AM news cycle increasingly populated bt defence stories this is a clear case of additive tooling moving into production support close to the customer. Massivit says the Barcelona operation gives users local capacity while keeping full control over cost and timelines.
