Material Innovation: Flame retardant powder for SLS

Dr. Leonhard Klein’s presentation will introduce Siemens' latest material innovation: a sustainable, flame-retardant powder for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology. Until now, no material has met both the technical and economic requirements for rail applications using SLS. Through a joint development with LehVoss, Siemens launched a 100% reusable SLS powder in 2024 that meets stringent fire protection standards (EN 45545) and is priced comparably to PA12. Attendees will gain insights into the development process, material properties, and the potential impact on advancing the use of SLS in the rail industry.
