Digital Inventories for the Energy and Offshore Sectors: Enabling Smarter Spare Parts Management

In the energy and offshore industries, managing spare parts efficiently is critical to operational continuity and cost control. Traditional inventory systems often lead to overstocking, obsolescence, and supply chain vulnerabilities. This talk introduces DNV’s new recommended practice, DNV-RP-B205, which provides a structured framework for digital inventories and on-demand manufacturing. By leveraging additive manufacturing and near-net-shape technologies, companies can assess part readiness, digitize legacy components, and produce qualified parts on demand. Through real-world examples, we’ll explore how this approach enhances supply chain resilience, reduces storage costs, and accelerates the adoption of digital strategies across the energy sector.
