Additive Manufacturing in Biomedical Applications

19 Nov 2024

This presentation will cover several key projects focused on developing advanced biomaterials through additive manufacturing (AM). The first project centers on creating functional bone reconstruction implants using metallic porous lattice structures and high-performance polymer composites (PEEK and PEI) to promote tissue regeneration and integration. The second project explores patient-specific bone grafts and skin patches crafted through 4D-bioprinting using human blood-derived proteins and cells to mimic natural tissue structures. The third project examines hybrid composites produced through a two-step method that combines AM with conventional casting, resulting in bi-continuous interpenetrating phase composite structures. Attendees will gain insights into the methodologies and innovative approaches shaping the future of therapeutic biomaterials.
