Who is leading the industry? This is the question we have sought to answer with every successive edition of the 3D Printing Industry Awards.

Launched in 2016, the 3DPI Awards have evolved over the past eight years to become a celebration of the additive manufacturing sector and the largest cross-vertical survey of the market, looking at all important applications and critical enabling technology.

The selection process draws upon our broad readership who are now joined by an expert committee with a cumulative AM experience approaching two thousand years. Reaching the 3D Printing Industry Awards shortlist is a mark of prestige for any organization, and winning an award is an “honor,” as Francois Minec, Global Head of 3D Polymers, HP Personalization and 3D Printing, said.

After a hiatus from in-person events, the 3DPI Awards returned with a stunning new venue. Guests remarked upon the spectacular nature of the historic Lincoln’s Inn Great Hall. A building rich in history and a fittingly grand site to celebrate the industry's successes, where guests could enjoy an evening of fine dining and the company of other industry leaders.

This year’s awards were made possible with our sponsors AMT, ThirdLook, Devout Solutions, and Envelop Risk. Ensuring that the winners received a trophy worthy of their accomplishments, a design competition was hosted by file-sharing platform Thangs who together with AnkerMake generously provided prizes for the winning designs. 3DPRINTUK manufactured trophies for the winners.

What did the 3DPI Awards winners have to say about the results?

Dr. Karsten Heuser, Siemens, won the Community Advocate of the Year and said, “The community is still small, and there is such a huge opportunity to scale as being the core of advanced manufacturing in the future.”

Fried Vancraen, Materialise founder noted, “Our success is not just ours alone—it’s a shared achievement with our customers and partners,” after winning the Company of the Year.

Christopher B. Williams, on winning the Academic Team Award for the work of DREAMS Lab, Virginia Tech, said the award belongs to all “who strive to broaden the collective understanding of additive manufacturing process and materials relationships to will enable us all to “print the impossible.””

“This award represents eight years of intensive work, both internally and externally in networks, committees, and with partners and politics,” said Stefanie Brickwede, Head of Additive Manufacturing at Deutsche Bahn.
