Strong attendance, premieres galore, and a wealth of new products throughout the entire AM process chain have all given renewed impetus to the live exhibition, whose return has been eagerly anticipated by the future-oriented AM industry. Joining the more than 600 exhibitors at Formnext (of which 55% are international companies) are an extensive TCT conference and diverse supporting program. From the very first day, Formnext has played host to quality business, intensive professional exchange, and valuable in-person encounters.

There are an unparalleled variety of industrial applications for additive manufacturing on display at Formnext 2021, including in architecture, the automotive industry, aviation, mechanical engineering, medical technology, furniture, sportswear, and wind power. Improving efficiency and expanding additive manufacturing to other areas of application, establishing global decentralized manufacturing and thus untangling supply chains, and the topic of sustainability are particular areas of focus.

Showcasing important innovations and new manufacturing systems at the event will be additive manufacturing heavyweights 3D Systems, Additive Industries, Addup, Arburg, BigRep, Covestro, Carbon, Cubicure, Desktop Metal, DMG Mori, Dyemansion, EOS, Evonik, ExOne, Farsoon, Formlabs, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, GE Additive, HP, Incus, Keyence, Materialise, Nexa3D, Renishaw, Siemens, Sigma Labs, Sisma, Stratasys, Trumpf, Voxeljet, XJet, and many more. Numerous companies will also be presenting exciting new products across the entire process chain: BASF Printing Solutions has developed a customizable bike saddle in cooperation with Atum3D, Hyperganic, and Innovationlab; Austrian company Lithoz is showcasing how multiple materials such as ceramics, copper, and more can be efficiently combined in one 3D-printed part; U.S.-based Markforged’s new FX20 3D printer enables significantly faster production of composites, while Wayland Additive of the U.K. promises more efficient additive manufacturing of metal parts with its Neubeam process. Ricoh is also presenting a new binder jetting technology.

For the first time, Formnext has a European partner country, Italy; bearing witness to the international significance of the country’s manufacturers and additive technology users. Italian start-up Prima Additive, for example, a subsidiary of the Prima Industrie Group, is premiering a selection of innovative manufacturing machines at Formnext. Other Italian AM manufacturers, such as WASP, Roboze, and many more, are also showcasing some exciting new developments. Another Italian company presenting its world-leading expertise at the event is industrial company Lincotek, which has made a name for itself in the field of medical technology in particular thanks to its state-of-the-art additive production center.

From now until 19 November 2021, the leading international exhibition for additive manufacturing and the next generation of industrial production will transform the host city Frankfurt into an international center for innovative production solutions. The event is taking place for those who have been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19.
