Intensive dialogue and insider know-how at Formnext Digital Days

24 Nov 2021

Formnext Digital Days will see the continuation of Formnext 2021 on November 30 and December 1, 2021 in a digital format. In addition to important opportunities for dialogue and matchmaking for the global AM industry, the Digital Days will provide a comprehensive and varied program including an extensive exhibitor database, inspiring presentations and keynotes as well as numerous Expert Talks.

The Formnext Digital Days will provide participants with an extensive list of exhibitors with contacts to all exhibitors at Formnext 2021 and to companies not able to exhibit in Frankfurt this year. It also contains information on all innovations and product launches presented at Formnext from 16 – 19 November 2021.

Rainer Grünauer, Director Sales Additive Manufacturing at Trumpf, sees an obvious benefit in the digital event: "Formnext Digital Days represent a tremendous opportunity to reach those customers unable to attend Formnext 2021 in Frankfurt."

Further confirmation of the event's importance as a supplement to the real-life trade show comes from Lukas Pawelczyk, Head of Sales freeformer at Arburg: "The in-person version of Formnext was a great success, and the Digital Days constitute the perfect supplement. We are looking forward to using the Digital Days as an additional platform. Customers and potential customers will be able to take their time and gather in-depth information on our innovations and solutions for industrial additive manufacturing."

Participants will be able to follow up leads established at Formnext 2021 and make new contacts within the community through the event's digital format.

Furthermore, Formnext Digital Days include an inspiring and interactive series of presentations with interesting keynotes, product presentations and panel discussions. For example Noah Mostow (ASTM), Stefan Ritt (Speed3D) and Dakhel Aldakhil (Saudi Aramco) will be explaining how additive manufacturing is advancing the energy, oil and gas industries.

Björn Hannappel, Head of Sustainability at EOS will be using his presentation entitled "On the road to Responsible Manufacturing" to show how additive manufacturing can make production more sustainable.

The important issue of process monitoring in 3D metal printing will be examined in a further panel discussion with Tim Marten Wischeropp (Fraunhofer IAPT), Rainer Lotz (Renishaw), Mirko Bromberger (Altair).

Materials are also a particularly relevant topic in additive manufacturing. In his presentation "Vast Variety of Materials Produced Additively", Wei Yen Lim, Manager Additive Manufacturing at Arburg, will be highlighting the diverse range of materials that can be processed.

An inspiring use case is presented by Luis Santos, Team Leader Additive Manufacturing Department at Erofio Group and Wolfgang Lauer, Product Manager at GE Additive, who will show the benefits of combining AM with more traditional manufacturing technologies using the example of a 3D-printed mold core.

Other presentations at Digital Days will feature key issues such as digitalization and quality assurance in additive manufacturing, new applications in plastics (for example in the perfume industry) or the importance of sustainability in 3D printed production solutions. Further key presenters will include Terry Wohlers (ASTM), Ralf Anderhofstadt (Daimler Truck AG) as well as representatives from EOS, Trumpf, GE and the organization Women in 3D Printing.

The Formnext.TV Expert Talks offer a combination of technical innovations and exciting insights into the entire industry. For example Bas de Jong (3Yourmind), Karsten Heuser (Siemens) and Damien Buchbinder (Trumpf Laser- und Systemtechnik) will be discussing how additive manufacturing can be used to develop applications.

Prof. Oliver Tessmann (DDU, TU Darmstadt), Prof. Ulrich Knaack (ISMD, TU Darmstadt), Martin Manegold (Imagine Computation) and Nadja Gaudilliere (DDU, TU Darmstadt) will be speaking on the use of 3D printing in architecture and the construction industry.

Prof. Johannes Henrich Schleifenbaum (ACAM Aachen Center for Additive Manufacturing GmbH) will be speaking about the relevance and synergies of AM regarding key innovations presented at Formnext, while Frank Virus (tesa) and Lukas Pawelczyk (Arburg) will be discussing current developments and challenges in the sector.

In the Expert Talks, participants at Formnext Digital Days will also have the opportunity to hear about important innovations and analyses regarding investment and the potential of 3D printed electronic connectors.
