Description

The SEAMHex 3D Printer is an extrusion-based system developed by Fraunhofer IWU. As a machine tool manufacturer of parallel kinematic CNC machines (Pentapods), we can now also offer a 3D Printer with a parallel kinematic Hexapod table.

This 3D printer features the previously mentioned Hexapod table and the SEAM (Screw Extrusion Additive Manufacturing) plasticizing unit.

These are the main advantages of the SEAMHex:

❎ Hexapod print bed (6-axis printing)

❎ Up to 1 m/s fast printing

❎ Plasticizing unit processes low-cost standard plastic pellets (up to 200 times cheaper than filaments)

❎ Printing at 8kg/h

❎ Patented bypass system (flow control)

Our Pentapods are characterized by their 5-strut parallel kinematics and the icosahedron frame. The first machine series built was a CNC machining center (P-Series) of this type. At first, only milling was possible on these machines. But a few years ago we integrated additive manufacturing into the P-Series, so now additive and subtractive manufacturing can be done in one machine.

PM-Series | Mobile Pentapod CNC Machine | Mobile 5-Axis Machine | Machining & 3D Printing

Our Pentapods are characterized by their 5-strut parallel kinematics and icosahedron frame. The mobile CNC machine (PM-Series) was invented in 2008 and is suitable for the mobile machining of large parts such as turbines, tanks, or large tool molds. The repair and machining of such parts are usually very time-consuming and costly.

Therefore, our mobile machine is perfectly suited to process or repair such components additively and/or subtractively.
