DfAM is not a universal set of design rules, and all technologies have their own design characteristics. To succeed with the application of AM, the user needs to clearly identify their compatible AM ingredients before designing anything.
Additive Companion is a reference resource and community platform designed to bring clarity to the complex and rapidly evolving world of 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing. Operating within a technology-agnostic framework, the platform offers free access to a curated archive of hundreds of classified case studies, providing a structured pathway for users to explore the full spectrum of AM technologies, manufacturers, and suppliers.
Beyond serving as a discovery tool, Additive Companion aims to foster an active community where users receive the opportunity to have their work selected for inclusion in the case studies, they can also suggest information updates information and corrections to any errors. This will ensure that the resource remains comprehensive, up-to-date, and impartial.
Ultimately, Additive Companion aspires to become the definitive source of trusted information and inspiration for individuals and organisations seeking to navigate, select and realise the potential of Additive Manufacturing.
Additive Companion is currently a working no-code prototype but is in the final stages of being coded into, to be on general release in early 2026.
