Control of Critical Assets: AM industry M&A and technological futures

Drawing on a current funded research project, we present initial findings of an in-depth review of merger and acquisition activities across the AM sector. We have constructed our own global dataset, which we will use to provide an overview of activities. Our presentation will also review the impacts of this M&A activity on the sector, and reflect on implications for manufacturing in general. The business dynamics will be be placed in the context of geo-political tension, reconfigurations of supply chains (reshoring, relocalisation etc) and increasing focus on national sovereignty. We will offer reflections on what the implications of increased AM consolidation may mean in this context.
