For the sixth time, the international Formnext Start-up Challenge has recognized young companies from the world of additive manufacturing for their innovative business ideas and cutting-edge technical developments.

Although Formnext is fully online this year, it will still be the leading international marketplace for innovations in additive manufacturing and intelligent production, and represents the ideal platform for making new business contacts this November. In the guise of Formnext Connect, the exhibition will feature, among other things, presentations and the latest innovations from world-leading exhibitors, intelligent matchmaking, and diverse supporting events to give participants a unique insight into specific technologies and recent developments in the industry.
Formnext 2020 to take place only virtually
Due to the recent rise of the Covid-19 infection figures worldwide, and the associated increase in travel restrictions, Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH has decided to hold Formnext 2020 purely virtually. The digital event will be named "Formnext Connect".
The Formnext Start-up Challenge: Viable AM Innovations plus Contribution to Sustainability
Recognizing new, creative, viable, and above all, sustainable business ideas from the world of additive manufacturing: This year’s Formnext Start-up Challenge once again invites submissions from innovative young companies. New for this year, companies who enter the sixth Formnext Start-up Challenge will also be competing to win the “AM Ventures Impact Award”. Applications are now being invited from companies that are no more than five years old.
Sustainable harmony of material and design: the focus of purmundus challenge 2020
Geometry and material in harmony is the theme of this year’s international purmundus challenge. The design competition for 3D and 4D printing is placing a deliberate focus on the interplay of materials and design against the backdrop of dwindling resources and important environmental issues, and thus stimulating innovation for sustainable development through the use of modern additive technologies. As is tradition, the finalists and winners of the purmundus challenge will be featured at Formnext, which is taking place from 10 to 13 November 2020.
Exhibitor advisory board supports health and hygiene concept for Formnext 2020
Formnext 2020 is set to take place as scheduled in Frankfurt from 10 – 13 November 2020, but with a revised innovative trade fair format including a comprehensive health protection concept and a new digital component. Formnext 2019: additive manufacturing inspires with best perspectives
34,532 specialists and managers (2018: 26,919) were swept away by an impressive Formnext 2019. 852 exhibitors (2018: 632) made Messe Frankfurt the stage for the ever-increasing fields of application of additive manufacturing. The move to the modern and architecturally-sophisticated exhibition halls 11 and 12, which was due to strong growth, has thus proved its worth.
3D-printed security key wins first prize of the purmundus challenge at the Formnext 2019
With his project "Stealth Key" Dr. Alejandro Ojeda from UrbanAlps AG won the first prize of this year's purmundus challenge at the Formnext 2019 in Frankfurt. Using Stealth Technology, Ojeda has created a physical key and cylinder system in which the code is neatly hidden under robust, narrow projections. As the key cannot be scanned, it offers maximum security and works independently of digital systems.
Formnext + PM South China to premiere in September 2020
From September 9 to 11, 2020, the first ever Formnext + PM South China trade show for the additive manufacturing and powder metallurgy industries will take place in Shenzhen, China. Prompted by the rapid development of both sectors in China, the trade show offers suppliers and users comprehensive business opportunities in advanced materials and innovative production methods.
